The U.S. dollar’s thrashing on Thursday after a last-minute European deal to contain the debt crisis may have sealed the currency’s fate.
And it is all downhill from here.
The European agreement, which involves a 50 percent write-down of Greek debt and boosting the euro zone’s bailout fund to as much as 1 trillion euros, has averted a collapse in Europe and spurred a rush to risky currencies and assets once again at the expense of the dollar.
Add in to the mix: a suddenly revitalized U.S. economy that a few weeks ago was teetering on the verge of recession and had fueled speculation about another round of quantitative easing. Almost overnight it leaves a whole new global outlook that appears a little more encouraging.
The dollar, with its near-zero interest rates guaranteed over the next two years, is the first to get sold off in times of global optimism, as investors use the greenback to fund the market’s foray into risky trades.
“When economic conditions are not deteriorating, there is a general risk-loving mode and the dollar will remain the primary funding currency,” said Alessio de Longis, portfolio manager for the Oppenheimer Currency Opportunities fund in New York.

Islamists’ intolerance is all-encompassing

The Failed Promise of the Arab Spring Share: October 27, 2011 Dear Friend of Israel, Earlier this year, the world was abuzz with news of the “Arab Spring.” As protesters took to the streets in great numbers, and as one oppressive Arab regime after another fell, it seemed to many that a new branch of liberty was flowering in this troubled part of the world. There were others, however, who sounded a note of skepticism. Since there is no longstanding tradition of democracy in Arab countries, they cautioned, there was little reason to believe that the removal of oppressive dictators would result in the establishment of democratic forms of government. Sadly, it seems the skeptics were right. Power vacuums that have been created in Arab countries where regimes have changed in recent months have not been filled by those seeking greater democracy and pluralism. They have been filled — or are in the process of being filled — by adherents of the intolerant, hateful ideology of radical Islam. It happened again earlier this week, when the interim leader in Libya, which recently lost its tyrannical ruler with the death of the murderous Muammar Gaddafi, promised that post-Gaddafi Libya will be ruled by the dictates of strict Islamic law. Christians in the Middle East have been among the first to suffer. In Egypt, the ouster of President Mubarak unleashed long-simmering tensions between Muslim radicals and Egypt’s minority Christian population. Attacks by Muslim mobs on churches have become more and more common. Recently, Christians protesting the Egyptian government’s failure to protect churches were fired on by government forces. Dozens were killed in the massacre — some of them crushed by tanks. Another story, this one from Libya, is also telling. David Gerbi, an exiled Libyan Jew, returned to his country after the fall of the murderous dictator Muammar Gaddafi with dreams of reopening a long-shuttered synagogue in the capital of Tripoli. His efforts, however, met with angry protests calling for his deportation. One sign carried by a demonstrator read, “There is no place for the Jews in Libya.” Ultimately, Gerbi gave up his dream and returned to his adopted country of Italy. One writer commented, “It is just another sign that the Arab Spring is turning into an autumn of Muslim religious persecution.” Islamists’ intolerance is all-encompassing. Their hatred extends not just to Jews and Christians, but to all who do not share their twisted world view — including their fellow Muslims. Israel, the U.S., and indeed all countries and people of goodwill, must of course extend their hand to the many Muslims who value democracy, tolerance, and pluralism. But we must not — we cannot — ignore the very real and deadly threat that radical Islam poses to our way of life and the values we hold dear. Tolerance is certainly a hard-won and precious gift. History and experience, however, show us beyond a shadow of a doubt that tolerance of evil leads only to more evil. Muslim fundamentalist terrorists seek to pervert justice and enforce their will through fear, threats, and violence. But the Bible admonishes us to “Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts” (Amos 5:15). These are our marching orders. Even as the Islamists seek to do their worst, let us show the world our best by continuing to extend our hands to those in need and peril, working tirelessly for justice, and opposing evil with all our might. By doing so, we will not only be making the world a better place — we will be honoring the God we serve, Who is the source of all goodness. Herman Cain is exactly right

They're at it again.

The Republican establishment sees Herman Cain surging, and they're doing everything they can to stop him. Karl Rove went after Herman Cain on FOX this weekend. I could tell you about it, but I can't say it as well as Herman said it himself:

"I believe it is a deliberate attempt to damage me because I am not, quote unquote, the establishment choice. But why not go with the choice that the people seem to like?"

Herman Cain is exactly right. The establishment has been trying to shove Mitt Romney down our throats for a year, despite his flip flops on abortion and immigration. Not to mention the fact that he's the godfather of Obamacare. They even tried to get us to like Rick Perry for awhile, too. Then Perry started calling people who didn't support free college tuition for illegal aliens "heartless." So that didn't really work, either.

In Herman Cain, conservatives finally have their best candidate since Ronald Reagan. He's passionate about conservatism, speaks from his heart, and excites people. That's why Herman is surging in the polls, and it's why the establishment has decided to swing into action.

I'm telling you this because when you hear Karl Rove bashing Herman Cain on FOX, I want you to know what's going on.

I respect Karl Rove and what he did with President Bush. But Rove is the leader of the establishment. He doesn't want to see Herman Cain get nominated.

This is why we have primaries. "We the People" get to decide who our nominee is. Not the media, not party big shots like Karl Rove.

Will you help us today?

Will you send a message that you are DONE letting the moderate GOP establishment and the liberal media pick our GOP nominee?

We can beat Barack Obama in 2012. So let's do it with a conservative this time, shall we?

Who Isn’t Obama Lying To?

If you placed all of Obama’s lies end to end they would probably stretch around the world.  And what I don’t understand is still how many people worship the man.
In yet another typical Obama hypocrisy, Obama hired long time Wall Street lobbyist Broderick Johnson as his new senior campaign advisor.
For the past month, Obama has openly supported the Occupy Wall Street movement and joined them in pointing the finger at Wall Street and the banking elite.  Yet, in another move that defies logic, the very elite that are being blamed for our economic woes are among some of the largest contributors to Obama’s re-election campaign.
So now Obama stands in front of one microphone and crowd siding with the Occupiers all over the county and then runs over to another microphone and announces that he has just hired one of the enemy’s most active lobbyist to help him get re-elected.So who isn’t Obama lying to?  Is he lying to the Occupiers or to Wall Street?  If you ask me, he’s lying to everyone, including himself.  He’s lied to the health care industry, he’s lied to the military, he’s lied to the financial world, he’s lied to big business, he’s lied to farmers, he’s lied to environmentalists, and he’s lied to every American.
It seems the only people he’s not lying to are the Muslims around the world and that should make all Americans extremely nervous.
If this had happened a century ago, Obama would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail; that is if they didn’t take more drastic measures with him first.  Perhaps we need some old time justice to clean up American politics.

A group that supports advancing free-market reforms has blasted the Obama administration's decision for imposing its own will over the will of the people.

 Last week (October 21), the U.S. Senate rejected President Barack Obama's state government bailout. The $35-billion measure would have provided funds for state and local governments to hire teachers and other school workers as well as to help pay the salaries of police officers, firefighters, and other first responders.
 
This week, Obama outlined a plan to allow millions of student loan recipients to lower their payments and consolidate their loans. The White House said the president will use his executive authority to provide student loan relief by reducing the maximum repayment on student loans from 15 percent of discretionary income annually to 10 percent. In addition, he will allow borrowers who have a loan from the Federal Family Education Loan Program and a direct loan from the government to consolidate them into one loan.

Bill Wilson, president of Americans for Limited Government, calls Obama's new series of regulatory actions a troubling trend.

"The president now has decided that he can operate through executive order, without Congress," he summarizes. "It's particularly disturbing when you look at the fact that now, for three weeks, his key supporters and backers -- including elected officials -- have been urging him to basically ignore Congress and rule by decree."

Furthermore, Wilson says Obama needs to remember the American people cast an unfavorable judgment on his policies in 2010 by electing a Republican House.

"He needs to adjust his view to the verdict of the American people, deal with the debt, and ... make it easy for people to do the right thing [regarding the housing issue] -- which is to allow the foreclosure process to proceed," he argues.

Wilson concludes by saying that as the president begins his "rule-by-decree tour" around the western United States, it will be important for watchdogs in Congress to ensure that he does not overstep his constitutional authority in a "wild attempt to gain votes."
